More complex patients and problems will be addressed. The format of the workshop will include a few brief lectures, practical demonstrations and small group discussions

Advanced mechanical ventilation I (08h00-12h00)

A practical hands-on and comprehensive approach to managing mechanical ventilation in ICU will be covered in this workshop. Various modes of ventilation and ventilatory strategies will be covered.  The format of the workshop will include a brief presentation followed by practical demonstrations and discussions.

advanced mechanical ventilation ii/ards (13h00-17h00)

This workshop will follow on from Advanced Mechanical Ventilation I. There will be a particluar focus on ventilatory management of the complex patient with ARDS. The format of the workshop will include a brief presentation followed by practical demonstrations and discussions.

NEUROMONITORING (13h00-17h00)

There are many neuromonitoring tools available for monitoring patients who have, or are at risk for, a neurological injury. This course will provide practical training on clinically relevant bedside tools. It will include ultrasound-based assessment e.g. transcranial doppler and optic nerve sheath diameter, NIRS, basic EEG and more.

PAEDIATRIC ADVANCED VENTILATION (13h00-17h00)

Enhance your expertise in paediatric mechanical ventilation with this hands-on, half-day workshop. Designed for health care professionals who are directly involved with the care of the ventilated paediatric patient. This intensive session covers cutting-edge ventilation strategies, case-based simulations and expert-led discussion to improve patient outcomes in critical care settings. Stay ahead with the latest innovations and best practices in paediatric respiratory management.

SASPEN: Nutrition assessment and body composition (08h00-12h00)

This is an interactive workshop focussing on comprehensive nutrition status assessment techniques. Participants will practice how to conduct bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) and interpret the findings. This will be followed by case study discussions with practical implementation of body composition results to assist with nutrition decision-making. After attending this workshop, participants should be able to conduct BIA assessments, interpret the results and be able to adapt nutrition support accordingly.

SASPEN: understanding gastrointestinal anatomy and other practical surgical aspects related to nutrition (13h00-17h00)

This interactive workshop will be presented by an upper gastro-intestinal surgeon and a dietitian with experience in the field of surgery. It will focus on the general GI anatomy as well as frequently encountered surgical procedures of the gastro-intestinal tract and their reconstructions. Enteral nutrition access routes and nutritional management of patients in the post-operative period as well as the long-term management will be discussed. The aim is to provide participants with a better understanding of surgical complexities and the new GI anatomy of the patients they deal with. Feeding routes and practical aspects of tube insertion and stents will be explored with practical examples and demonstrations of procedures. Participants should be able to understand surgical procedures and their consequences on nutrition support in the short and long term better, be able to interpret operation notes and be confident in advising nutrition support in the peri-operative phase after attending this workshop.
